ABOUT ME

TARA GRANT, LAc, MAPsy, PhD canditate

Trauma-Informed, Intuitive Acupuncturist & Mind-Body Somatic Practitioner in New York City

Of course, we can work on the thing that hurts, the digestion that has gone completely off track, the anxiety that won’t settle down, the sleep that disappeared somewhere along the way or the chronic symptoms you have been carrying for years.

But sometimes people arrive without a clear reason why.

They just know something is calling them to pay attention.

Maybe you feel off.

Stuck.

Disconnected.

Exhausted in a way sleep doesn’t fix.

Maybe your body has been trying to get your attention for a while, but you aren’t quite sure what it's saying yet.

My work combines acupuncture and holistic techniques with nervous system regulation, breath, qigong, herbs, somatic practices, biofeedback and the most current mind-body research (what I study).

But underneath all of those tools is something even simpler:

I want to help you come back into relationship with yourself.

Because healing can easily become another project.

Another set of appointments.

Another protocol.

Another supplement.

Another person telling you what is wrong with you and what you need to fix.

And somewhere in that process, the healing can become so overwhelming that it's just another "thing to do". And healing the nervous system is the opposite of this.

I am interested in helping you find out why your body is speaking on a deeper level.

What has your body been carrying?

What has become disconnected?

What are you moving toward?

Who are you underneath all of the managing, coping and surviving?

That is the deeper wellness practice I am interested in.

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

A DIFFERENT WAY OF LOOKING AT YOUR HEALTH

Your body doesn’t exist separately from the life you’re living. Stress can affect digestion, pain can disrupt sleep, trauma can change how your nervous system responds, and major life changes can show up physically long before you fully understand what is happening.

That’s why I don’t treat symptoms in isolation. Traditional Chinese Medicine is the foundation of my work, but each treatment is built around the person in front of me. Depending on what you need, a session may include acupuncture—or no needles at all—qigong, cupping, moxa, herbs, breathwork, somatic practices, HRV and biofeedback practices, PEMF or photon therapy, meditation or dreamwork, spiritual or intuitive exploration, and practical support around habits, transitions, creativity, stress, and daily life. And sometimes, I've just got to bring out the singing bowls & tarot cards.

My background brings together neuroscience, clinical and depth psychology, acupuncture and East Asian medicine, somatic and energy-based practices, and my current doctoral studies in Mind-Body Medicine and integrative health. I draw from all of these perspectives, but the goal is always the same: to understand what is happening in your system and find the tools that make the most sense for you.

There is no ideal version of healing you need to arrive ready for. Just arrive.

ABOUT YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM & NYC

YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM IS LIVING IN NEW YORK TOO

Living in NYC means your body is constantly taking in stimulation—noise, crowds, screens, traffic, deadlines, commuting, and the feeling that there is always something else demanding your attention.

You may not feel obviously stressed, but your nervous system is still adapting. Over time, that constant adjustment can add up. This is part of what researchers call allostatic load: the cumulative strain of repeatedly responding to stress without enough time to fully recover.

Sometimes it looks like anxiety. Sometimes it looks like poor sleep, tension, digestive issues, irritability, fatigue, or simply feeling like you are always a little bit “on.”

When that state becomes your normal, true rest can start to feel unfamiliar.

What's NExt

Whatever brought you here, we can start there.

Whether it’s pain, anxiety, digestion, illness, burnout, or simply feeling stuck, treatment begins with where you are now.

My work is about meeting you where you are, paying attention to what your body is asking for, and building from there.

If something here resonated, let's start with a conversation and see whether working together feels like the right fit. That's all that matters.
